London the pit bull finds a new home

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

London the pit bull may have lost his two front legs, but now he's got new wheels, a new family and a new lease on life.

London was dropped off at a California humane society with severely fractured legs and eventually brought to a shelter in Vancouver.

His owners were arrested after investigators said they slammed the puppy on the floor numerous times and waited months to seek medical help.

A vet determined amputating the front legs would be best for London's long-term health.

The dog has been going through rehabilitation therapy and the special rescue organization that has been caring for London, Panda Paws, said they received plenty of applications from people who wanted to adopt him.

Their goal was to keep him local and they said Frances Gehring of southwest Portland was a perfect match.

She said she's been following his story from the start and now looks forward to loving and spoiling the pup that's has been through so much.

He's getting around on a customized cart that lets him run and play pretty much anywhere he wants to go.

It's a good thing too, because at his new home, he's got a new spaniel brother to play with.
