Investigators said a man and woman were found dead in a condominium near 68th Street and Chauncey Lane, just south of the Loop 101 in north Phoenix.
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police are trying to find exactly what led to what they believe is a murder-suicide in a residential complex near the Phoenix-Scottsdale border.
Investigators said a 56-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were found dead in a condominium near 68th Street and Chauncey Lane, just south of the Loop 101 in north Phoenix.
Police began the investigation after the woman's family hadn't heard from her and asked for someone to check and see if she was OK.
Sgt. Trent Crump said the woman appeared to be stabbed to death and detectives believe the man committed suicide. A note was found at the scene.
Police said they believe the deaths happened Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
Crump said there had been previous arrests for domestic violence incidents over last few years.
Neighbors said an older man and younger woman lived there.
"I'm sad," said a woman who asked not to be identified. "I'm sad for her."
Neighbors said they heard nothing unusual Tuesday night, but that the couple was often heard arguing and seen outside their balcony smoking.
Neighbors also said the couple moved in about a month ago and that police had been to the condo before.
"You know, to be honest with you, it's one of those gut feelings that you have," the neighbor said. "The moment that I saw him, I just had that sinking feeling in my stomach from the moment they walked in. And every time I saw him, you just had that feeling that you know something's not right with this guy."
