Fire near Sisters expected to grow

Posted: Updated:
SISTERS, OR (AP) -

A forest fire a few miles southwest of Sisters in the Cascade Range is growing, and fire managers say it may well grow in the next few days.

The weather forecast calls for hot, dry and unstable conditions.

The Pole Creek fire area has reached more than 5,000 acres.

It began over the weekend in the Three Sisters Wilderness area. Four cars were burned, but no injuries were reported as hikers and campers fled.

A subdivision west of the town Sisters has been put on evacuation notice, but the firefighters say the blaze hasn't breached the containment lines they've been able to draw so far.
