CLARK COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

A long-term investigation of a suspected drug trafficker in Clark County turned up 20 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and $44,000 in cash.

Jose Barajas-Rodriguez, 28, of Woodburn was arrested Wednesday in the 1900 block of Northeast 78th Street in the Hazel Dell area of Clark County.

Deputies said he was taken into custody while in the process of delivering a large quantity of meth.

A search warrant was executed at a small warehouse at 21305 NE 10th Avenue near Ridgefield following his arrest.

The warehouse was identified by investigators as a place where the suspect was believed to be storing large quantities of drugs.

During the search of the warehouse, detectives found 20 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and $20,000 in cash.

During the course of the investigation, detectives made numerous purchases of meth from Barajas-Rodriguez and determined he was a major supplier of meth in Clark County.

Investigators believe he trafficked the drugs to Clark County from supply sources in southern California.

Agents from the Portland DEA Office searched his home in Woodburn and discovered another $24,000 in cash.

Investigators said the money is believed to be from drug trafficking.

Three vehicles belonging to Barajas-Rodriguez were also seized as unlawful proceeds from drug trafficking.

This meth case follows a record seizure of 74 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in Clark County on Aug. 6.

The two investigations were conducted at the same time, but there are no connections between them.

Barajas-Rodriguez is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.
