Four people have been arrested in connection to a burglary at a metal salvage company near Aumsville.
Investigators said employees arrived at work at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and found that someone broke into the business on the 9000 block of Silver Falls Highway Southeast.
A company truck and box trailer were missing and deputies found them stranded along a set of railroad tracks about 500 yards away.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office said a group of people were trying to free the truck and took off when deputies approached.
Jeremy Harris was discovered hiding in some bushes near the scene, according to deputies, and arrested.
Late Tuesday night, the Marion County SWAT Team secured two homes on a 5-acre parcel off the Stayton-Scio Highway just outside Stayton.
Harris lived in one of the homes, while the other was occupied by his relatives and friends.
When the SWAT Team arrived, they discovered several people had built a large burn pile. Investigators said the suspects were burning stolen property.
Detectives served two search warrants early Wednesday morning. Several vehicles found on the property were identified as stolen.
A 2011 Ford F350 truck was reported stolen in Stayton on July 1. It had been partially stripped.
A 2005 Pontiac was reported stolen on June 27. Deputies said it was stripped and destroyed by cutting the roof off and shooting out the windows.
A Polaris 700cc Sportsman 4-wheel quad was also discovered. It had been stolen several months ago from a home in Linn County.
Other vehicles and trailers on the property are still being checked to determine if they were stolen.
Stayton police assisted in stopping several cars as they attempted to leave the property.
Elizabeth Sullivan, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of meth.
A second woman was in the car with her 6-year-old daughter.
Detectives have not connected that woman to the crimes, but the child was referred to the Department of Human Services because of the filthy living conditions investigators said they observed at the house.
Dylan Gottfried, 23, of Salem, was arrested on a parole violation. Investigators said he is an association of Jeremy Harris.
Harris' mother Patricia Harris, 55, was arrested in a car leaving the property that deputies said had guns suspected to be stolen.
She was charged with tampering with evidence after admitting to detectives she was helping her son move property to avoid facing more charges.
Deputies are seeking additional search warrants to recover suspected stolen property inside the cars.
