A Stage II water emergency is in effect in Battle Ground.
A Stage II water emergency means there is a serious water shortage.
It calls for immediate voluntary reductions in water consumption due to an unforeseen water shortage and higher than normal temperatures.
A pump failure occurred at one of the city's high-production wells late last week.
Repairs are under way and the well is expected to be back online by Sept. 21.
With the declaration, the city is instituting a voluntary odd/even residential, commercial, industrial and government alternate day irrigation program.
Customers with a street address ending in an even number are asked to water only on even numbered days.
Those with street addresses ending in an odd number are asked to water only on odd days.
The city will reduce usage of designated park and facility irrigation systems.
The Stage II water emergency will remain in effect until further notice.
More information about the declaration and water conservation is available on the city's website.
