Several areas around the Cascade Creek Fire are being affected by smoke and falling ash. The fire is burning on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, mostly in the Mt. Adams wilderness, near Trout Lake, WA. The Cascade Creek fire on the south slope of Mt. Adams is now over 2,000 acres in size.
Wind has carried smoke as far as the I-5 corridor. Ash has also been reported falling to the northwest of Mt. Adams.
The most affected areas reach from Takhlakh Lake north of the Mt. Adams Wilderness, along the upper North Fork Lewis River down to the Indian Heaven and Sawtooth Berry Fields area.
A lightning storm that moved through Indian Heaven sparked numerous other wildfires in the region.
