TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

Two neighboring Tigard homes were damaged by fire late Sunday morning.

The owner of the home that initially caught fire received minor burns and lacerations to his hands, according to authorities. He was not transported to the hospital.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue personnel were first called to the 13100 block of Southwest Morningstar Drive at about 10 a.m.

When they arrived they found that the fire, which had started in the hedges in the back of the first home, had spread to the deck and then the attic as well as to the home behind it. The fire was upgraded to two alarms so more resources could be called to the scene.

The intensity of the flames caused windows of the neighbor's home to blow out.  Firefighters managed to get the fire under control before it could do much more damage.

Fire investigators are still working to determine a cause.
