PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Thousands of people wore their brightest pink and ran for a cure in downtown Portland yesterday.
It was part of the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.
More than 25,000 people registered to take part in the Portland race, which is one of the largest.
The event is a time that allows survivors to celebrate another year surviving cancer and a chance for family and friends to honor those who did not survive.
Komen Oregon is working to raise $3 million for breast cancer research and has brought in just under $2.5 million.
That money goes to towards expanding access to breast cancer screenings and to research for finding a cure.
Komen Oregon will continue raising money through October so they still have time to reach their goal.
