Two brush fires threatened to get out of control at Powell Butte today. But fortunately, crews from both Portland and Gresham were able to snuff the flames out.
Portland Fire and Rescue said the first reports of the burn came in around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Crews arrived to find one fire already being contained by nearby witnesses. But the second fire was seen burning about 300 feet up a nearby hillside. A brush fire crew, consisting of a four-wheel drive truck, rushed up the hill to extinguish the flames.
Both fires were declared contained by 4:30 p.m.
