CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -
It looks like voter approval will be needed before Clackamas County officials can spend money on any light rail plans.
About 60 percent of Clackamas County votes counted so far are in favor of sending the issue to voters.
Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts also supports the anti-light rail measure, saying he's concerned the cost of the new light rail would undermine future police budgets.
The language in Measure 3-401 says any public rail transit system requires voter approval for use of county resources. It's not clear whether the measure will
affect the Portland-to-Milwaukie light rail project that is already
being constructed.
