Mourners gathered in San Diego to pay respects to the Oregon native killed during an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya on Sept. 11.
Tyrone Woods was one of four Americans killed in the attack. The retired Navy Seal was providing private security for the U.S. government at the time.
A funeral procession consisting of dozens of cars brought his body to Coronado Thursday morning. A private funeral service took place at the North Island Naval Base.
Woods graduated from Oregon City High School and settled in San Diego after 20 years of military service.
At first the attack was seen as a spontaneous uprising over an anti-Muslim movie trailer released by a U.S. filmmaker. Now, the White House said the incident was a planned terrorist attack. Intelligence officials are linking the attack to Al-Qaeda.
Woods is survived by his wife and three children.
