Home burglary caught on camera

Posted: Updated:

Fox 12's most wanted burglarized a Southeast Portland home, but the entire crime was caught on home surveillance video.

The homeowner, an IT tech by trade, had two surveillance cameras mounted inside his house which captured images of the thief loading hundreds of dollars worth of stolen goods inside luggage before taking off.

"He really liked my luggage," said Bryan, who declined to give his last name.

He told Fox 12 he returned to his SE Lincoln Street home on Thursday to find multiple doors damaged, and his kitchen door off its hinges.

Byran then checked his living room and noticed the home surveillance camera in that room had been taken, but not before it snapped a couple of pictures. In one of the images, Bryan said you can see the suspect had some sort of folding utility knife in his pocket.

Bryan said the thief then walked to a basement area downstairs where a second surveillance camera recorded the suspect packing stolen goods, including electronics, inside the luggage.

"I see him filling this bag up with all of my stuff, he throws my bag over his shoulder and wanders out the door like he owns the place," Bryan said.

Bryan has now turned to the internet to help circulate the video and images. He hopes someone will be able to identify the images, so he and his neighbors can feel safe again.

"It's not the stuff (I'm concerned about); it's watching this big, beefy dude with a 6-inch knife saunter through my living room and casually raid house," he said.
