Oregon State Police are investigating recent traffic signal tampering and copper wire theft near Clackamas.
Someone broke into a locked control box on Wednesday morning and took several relay switches, causing traffic signal problems in the area of Highway 224 and I-205.
"Those people need to be punished for what they did," said Katherine Salmon, who lives in the area. That's just wrong."
The same day, police say O-DOT workers discovered someone had stolen copper wiring from light poles along the I-205 bicycle path.
It will cost $4,000 to replace the stolen copper wire.
"O-DOT has money in the contingency fund to take care of this," said ODOT spokesman Don Hamilton. "$4,000 is not something to sneeze at. This is not an insignificant amount of money. We have to watch out for everything in this economic climate."
If you have any information about the theft, you're asked to call police.
