Fire crews hastily put out a fire at an apartment building Friday night, managing to keep it contained to a single unit.
Crews arrived three minutes after the fire reportedly broke out at about 11:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of North Watts Street, according to a Portland Fire Bureau spokesman.
Upon arrival they found smoke and fire coming from an apartment on the first floor of the u-shaped building. Adjacent apartments were checked for occupants as personnel ran hose lines to the source of the blaze.
The fire was brought under control by 11:55 p.m.
The cause is still under investigation.
