PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Oregon high school graduates outperformed the national average on SAT scores.
Oregon public school grads received a mean critical reading score of 518 and a math score of 521 in 2012. Those numbers were up two points and one point respectively over last year's totals.
The national average for reading is 491 and math is 505.
In Oregon, the mean writing score this year is 494 for public school graduates. That's the same as last year and 13 points higher than the national average.
A total of 15,858 public school graduates took the SAT college entrance exam in 2012. That's 51 percent of the total grads for the year.
