THE DALLES, OR (KPTV) -
A driver is accused of nodding off at the wheel and nearly hitting an Oregon State Trooper conducting a sobriety test.
The driver, Dennis Brenden, 34, has been cited for careless driving after police said he feel asleep while he was driving.
Senior Trooper Thand Routson was conducting a field sobriety test on I-84 west of The Dalles when Brenden's Ford Focus veered toward him. After narrowly missing the trooper and the DUII suspect, the Ford careened off the road and into a steep embankment.
Trooper Rouston ran to the heavily damaged car and pulled Brenden and his female passenger out of the wreckage. After citing Brenden for careless driving and a lack of an operator's license, the trooper concluded the field sobriety test and arrested that driver with DUII.
