NEWPORT, OR (KPTV) -

Police showed up at a home on Northwest 56th Street in Newport to check on a report of a domestic dispute.

Police say they found Vera Lee Forbis of Newport, who had been involved in a fight with her estranged husband.

During the dispute, police say she threatened to shoot him with a rifle, dowsed his truck with gasoline and hit him several times with her hands and parts of a metal bed frame.

The husband's hand and leg were hurt, but he refused medical treatment.

Police arrested Forbis at the scene, then she suffered a possible medical issue.  She was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for evaluation and treatment.

After being treated, she was taken to Lincoln County Jail on charges of assault two, menacing, disorderly conduct two and harassment. Her bail was set at $150,000.

Her son, Thomas Spivey of Newport, was also at the home. Police say he interfered several times with the officers as they tried to investigate.

They also say he threw his bike at his step-father and caused damage to the garage door. Spivey was arrested and sent to the Lincoln County Jail, too.

He faces charges of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief two and interfering with a police officer. His bail was set at $40,000.
