REDMOND, WA (KPTV) -

A 12-year-old boy accidentally killed himself on a backyard zip line in Redmond, WA, Wednesday, according to investigators.

Jackson Roos had been riding his bike near the front of the house on 255th Avenue Northeast around 2:30 p.m. Deputies said his mother then went to look for him and found him hanging from the zip line.

Medics rushed to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the boy, but he was pronounced dead.

King County detectives responded to investigate, which is standard procedure for child deaths. They said the zip line appeared to be commercially made and installed.

It's not yet clear how the boy got himself caught up in the line.

Detectives removed the zip line as part of the investigation.
