ALOHA, OR (KPTV) -

Washington County deputies are searching for a missing man with Asperger's syndrome.

His family called authorities Thursday night to alert them that Jorge Villa, 22, left his house on the 17000 block of Washington Street in Aloha that morning and never returned.

He was last seen at 8 a.m.

His family said the man has the mental abilities of a 10-year-old, but he is able to get around on public transportation on his own.

They said he followed his normal routine for a Thursday by leaving at 8 a.m. to go shopping, but he normally returns by 2 p.m. He also usually calls from his cell phone several times while he is out.

He never called on Thursday.

Villa's family said it's the first time he has not called or returned home as expected. Nobody has been able to reach him on his cell phone.

Deputies searched the Tanasbourne shopping area and contacted TriMet about the case.

Villa left the house Thursday wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with an unknown university emblem on the left shoulder. He was also wearing khaki shorts and blue converse shoes.

He is 6'4" tall and 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was carrying a dark-colored backpack and a large blue Trader Joe's shopping bag.

If you've seen him, call deputies at 503-629-0111.
