TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -
A teen accused of shoplifting landed behind bars following a pursuit with police.
According to police, Nicholas Dempsey, 19, stole merchandise from the Zumiez store in Washington Square Mall in Tigard on Friday. On his way out of the store, Dempsey apparently tackled a customer while trying to get away. The customer was slightly injured.
Witnesses reported seeing Dempsey hop into a red getaway car outside the mall. Officers were able to track it down in the area of Scholls Ferry Road and Hall Boulevard in Beaverton, but the driver had already dropped Dempsey off. Police arrested Dempsey a few blocks away near the intersection of Scholls Ferry Road and Eagle Lane.
Dempsey was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with theft, robbery and criminal mischief.
