Woodburn police identify suspect in officer-involved shooting

WOODBURN, OR (KPTV) -

Woodburn police said a suspect was shot Friday night in an officer-involved shooting.

Police were called out to reports of shots fired on Fifth Street near Highway 214 at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, not far from Woodburn High School.

Officers said Librado Perez-Sanchez, 20, of Woodburn, fired his gun into the street and at police.

Police shot back, hitting Perez-Sanchez once.

Woodburn Capt. Jason Alexander said no officers were hurt.

Crews took Perez-Sanchez to a hospital. He's expected to recover.

Officers said they planned to arrest Perez-Sanchez as soon as he is out of the hospital.

He's expected to face charges for attempted aggravated murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

They officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Andron Shadrin, 31, Shawn Hershberger, 32, and Thomas Courson, 38.

They are on paid administrate leave. That is standard procedure following any officer-involved shooting.
