PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Power lines fell to the ground and started a grass fire at Heron Lake Golf Course Wednesday morning.
Investigators said the wind knocked over a tree into the power lines at 9:20 a.m. at 3500 N. Victory Blvd.
The battalion chief who first responded to the scene upgraded the incident to a wildland response. Portland fire crews stood by until Portland General Electric crews were able to arrive and ensure the power to the lines had been cut.
Once the power was shut down, firefighters moved in and quickly put out the fire. It burned an area approximately 200 feet by 60 feet.
Seven engines responded to the scene Wednesday, along with one truck, two brush units, one water tender and three chief officers.
