A woman was hit by a truck in Newberg and knocked off her scooter.

Newberg-Dundee Police said it happened at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday on Portland Road near the McDonald's Restaurant.

Officers said a pickup was pulling out of the parking lot and hit a woman in a scooter, described as similar to the Hoveround models.

The 70-year-old woman was injured and Life Flight was called to the scene to take her to the hospital. The woman's condition is not yet known.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said it's still early in the investigation, but there are no indications of driver impairment or criminal charges likely to be filed.

The southbound lanes of Portland Road were closed briefly after the crash.
