More than 1,600 pounds of chemicals were removed from Clark County schools.
It was part of an effort to remove unwanted or unsafe chemicals. The program helps school staff identify and dispose of unwanted chemicals. This year's effort included 14 schools, including ones in Battle Ground, Camas, Evergreen, Hockinson, Ridgefield and Vancouver.
The program dates back to 2003, when the county received a grant from Washington State Department of Ecology. More than 2,700 pounds of chemicals were collected the first year.
