Worker helps police nab suspected wallet thief

Posted: Updated:

A Happy Valley man is behind bars, accused of stealing a wallet from a business.

The incident happened Tuesday at Happy Valley Orthodontics on Southeast Sunnyside Road.

A worker at the office, June Wood, reported smelling a strong smell of body odor and saw the front door of the business close. She followed a man outside, not knowing they had stolen anything at that point. She was able to get a description and direction of travel for the man.

When Wood returned inside, she learned that her co-worker's wallet had been stolen. She went back outside while calling 911, keeping the dispatcher up to date on his location.

Officers arrested Robert Jensen at the Providence Medical Plaza. They were also able to find the victim's wallet there.

Jensen was charged with theft II. He also had two probation violation warrants out for public indecency.

Happy Valley police are investigating the possibility of other victims in the area.
