
Jessica Glenn's Apple Sauce Recipe
This recipe works for whatever number of apples you want to use. Use a sweet variety of apples or a combo for different flavors
• First, wash apples and cut them into quarters
• Next put the apples in a heavy pot add an inch of water and turn the heat to high. Add a stick of cinnamon if desired
• When the water starts to boil, turn temp to medium high until apples are completely soft.
• Sieve the softened apples through a food mill or peel and core and use a food processor or emulsion wand
• Taste sauce. If desired, add some sugar to taste.
• Sterilize jars and lids and fill with sauce.
• Hot process (boil the jars in water) for 25 min.
• Eat whenever you like! These will stay good on the shelf for more than 6 months.
Jessica Glenn's Canned Pears
• First, make a syrup for the pears. You can choose light, medium or heavy depending on how much sugar you want to use. A medium syrup is 3 cups sugar to 4 cups water. Boil the sugar and water for five minutes and set aside.
• Peel and core pears
• Pack pear pieces into sterilized jars carefully so that pear piece do not float
• Pour the syrup into the jar covering the fruit completely but leaving a small space at the top of the jar.
• Hot process (boil the jars in water) for 25 min.
• Eat whenever you like! These will stay good on the shelf for more than 6 months.
