PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A dog custody battle will continue to play out over the course of October, but for now, the husky-shepherd mix is back in the hands of its original owner, Samuel Hanson-Fleming.
Hanson-Fleming and Oregon State student Jordan Biggs have been involved in the dispute for months.
Biggs is facing a first-degree theft charge alleging she took the dog she found in Portland and refused to return it when Hanson-Fleming told her he was the owner.
Depending on who you talk to, the dog's name is either Bear, as Biggs named him, or Chase, as Hanson-Fleming named him.
The dog has been staying at the Humane Society, and Hanson-Fleming was to pick him up Thursday afternoon.
Trial in the case is scheduled for Oct. 24.
