WASHOUGAL, WA (KPTV) -

The remains of a man who has been missing for 32 years have been identified in Skamania County.

Deputies said the remains of Kenneth Stovner were found Sept. 23 about a half mile west of his former home on Belle Center Road in Washougal in a heavily wooded area.

Stovner, 39, was reported missing around April 12, 1980. Investigators said a search of his home and the surrounding area revealed no clues at that time.

A landowner was clearing the area last month and located the remains. After an intense search, investigators said they had the evidence needed to positively identify Stovner.

The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
