Anti-Obama display includes hanging chair

Posted: Updated:

A Camas couple is showing their disapproval of President Barack Obama using a sign, a chair and a tree.

A big chalkboard says, "Are you better off now than 4 yrs ago? The king is a joke." The chair says "No-Bama" as it dangles from the tree.

Kathy Maxwell said her husband first wrote the message on the chalkboard two weeks ago. He then put the chair next to the tree, an ode to Clint Eastwood's speech at the Republican National Convention.

Hours after he placed it there, the couple said someone took off with their chair. That's when they decided to hoist one up the tree attached to a rope.

Some people in the community aren't happy about it, specifically the hanging of the chair.

"It's not racist, it's really not," Maxwell said. "And I think people need to grow up and be American."

Maxwell said her family will not apologize for expressing their freedom of speech. They don't plan to take the display down anytime soon.

And even though she's not fan of Obama, Maxwell said she's not necessarily a Mitt Romney supporter either. She just believes he's the lesser of two evils in the presidential election.
