VERNONIA, OR (KPTV) -

The driver of a log truck was arrested for DUII and other traffic-related charges after crashing his loaded log truck on Highway 47 north of Vernonia on Thursday afternoon.

Columbia County troopers say the truck was traveling northbound on Highway 47 near milepost 59 when it traveled off the highway and smashed into two utility poles and damaged about 100 feet of a rancher's fence.  The truck and trailer overturned and spilled logs along the side of the highway.

Troopers arrested Robert J. Gedenberg of Astoria for DUII and Reckless Driving.  He was also cited for refusing a breath test and failure to drive within a traffic lane.

He was not using safety restraints, but troopers say Gedenberg was not injured.

The northbound lane was closed about six hours during the incident response and vehicle and log removal.
