MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

A two-alarm fire ripped through a Milwaukie-area apartment complex on Friday morning.

Clackamas and Portland firefighters responded to the blaze at the Clackamas Trails Apartments on Cook Court just off King Road around 10 a.m.

Strong wind at the time the fire broke out made it challenging for firefighters, and the flames spread quickly on one side of the apartment building.

The spread of fire was contained by the quick actions of firefighters as well as a fire-rated wall that was in place, separating the units on fire from six other attached units.

There were no reports of injuries, but fire officials said crews dealt with intense heat from the flames before they were able to put out the fire.

FOX 12's helicopter showed significant damage to the building.

Firefighters said a dozen people can't return to their home and the Red Cross is working to secure temporary accommodations for them.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
