Residents displaced in Vancouver apartment fire

Posted: Updated:
VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A fire at the Ardendale Apartments on Friday night gut two out of 10 units and displaced all of its residents.

The fire broke at about 9:40 p.m. at 600 Southeast 121st Avenue. A Vancouver Fire spokesman says there was a lot of fire throughout, and it took a while to go through the entire structure to look for hot spots.

One of the residents was transported to an area hospital after neighbors say they helped him get out. The fire spokesman says he had health issues unrelated to the actual fire.

Because electricity had to be cut off to the building, even residents whose apartments weren't damaged by fire and smoke had to find alternative lodgings for the night.

Damage has been estimated to be about $200,000.

Investigators are still searching for the cause.
