An Aloha man was arrested after deputies said the man crashed his car and then walked off, leaving his passenger behind.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on Southwest Gassner Road near Southwest Grabhorn Road around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Inside the car, deputies found Kalin Rose Morris, 20, from Forest Grove. She was taken to Oregon Health Sciences University where she died.

As investigators worked the crash scene they were able to determine that at least one person had fled from the scene.

It was about two hours later that deputies said they found Scott David Harris, 22, walking on Southwest 209 Avenue near Southwest Farmington Road.

Deputies suspected Harris was the driver of the car and took him into custody for questioning.

Investigators believe that Harris was driving the vehicle on Gassner Road when he lost control and ended up crashing into a large tree, breaking it in half.

Deputies said the car was destroyed in the crash and that left Morris trapped inside.

Harris suffered some minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital before he was booked into the Washington County Jail on second-degree manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, and DUII charges.
