Alaska Airlines back online, delays still expected

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Alaska Airlines is back online, but it's still slow going for travelers Monday.

Long lines started forming around the Alaska counter at Portland International Airport Monday morning. The company said a network outage occurred at 7:30 a.m. after a fiber network cable was cut in the Midwest.

"We're just stuck, I don't know what to do," said Alaska customer Mark Oury, who was unable to board his flight for Chicago. "We'll just make the best of it, I guess."

Sprint is the airline's data connection partner. By 1 p.m., Alaska said the connection had been restored.

Alaska Airlines said passengers could still expect long delays as operations returned to normal.

Customers traveling Monday or Tuesday can change their ticket or request a refund by Tuesday and reschedule their travel through Oct. 22 without incurring any change fees. Full details are available on alaskaair.com.
