Stand Together Week kicked off today with the Portland Timbers volunteering and giving back around the city.
The Timbers organized the event as a call to action to get involved in the community.
They say the goal of Stand Together Week is to benefit the youth and the environment.
This morning players and folks from Portland Youth Builders gathered in Southeast Portland to help paint classroom buildings.
Then this afternoon, another group in Northeast Portland helped clean and fix bikes at the Community Cycling Center.
At Ockley Green School, volunteers rejuvenated a garden which is used to teach kids about growing and eating fresh fruits and vegetables.
The theme of Stand Together Week is "Give, unite, inspire."
It's something the Timbers say they feel really strongly about.
"It's something that's good for the community. This is the end of our season, we want to give back to the great fan support we've had all year and it's a great way to do that," Timber Joey said.
