Newberg student accused of sex abuse, illegal tattoos

NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

An 18-year-old Newberg High School student has been arrested on allegations he had sex with underage teenage girls and gave several other students tattoos.

Stephen Lister didn't have a license while he performed tattoos on at least 10 people, a spokesman for Newberg-Dundee police said Wednesday.

The investigation began back on Sept. 26 when a Newberg High School nurse first contacted the school's resource officer to say she learned about Lister performing tattoos on students.

The school resource officer soon identified 10 victims who showed their tattoos and allowed the officer to photograph them. Each victim said Lister gave them the tattoo at his apartment on Haworth Street on separate occasions, police said.

A week later, detectives arrested Lister after two 15-year-old girls came forward and confirmed he had sex with them.

During the investigation, detectives found 20 photographs of homemade tattoos on Lister's phone.

Now, police want those who received the tattoos to contact them because they're concerned appropriate sanitation practices weren't used. Improperly applied tattoos can lead to serious infections or the spreading of disease.

Anyone who has received a tattoo from Lister is asked to call 503-538-8321.

Lister was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on 10 counts of performing services in a field of practice without a license, three counts of third-degree sex abuse, two counts of third-degree sodomy and three counts of third-degree rape.
