SALEM, OR (KPTV) -
A school bus crash caused nearly 50 students to be a little late to class Wednesday morning.
It happened at 8:30 a.m. on Cordon Road in Salem. Deputies said a man driving a 2004 Honda slowed down for another bus making a left turn onto Herrin Road in front of him, when his car was hit from behind.
Investigators said the school bus, driven by Stephen Armenta, 25, wasn't able to stop in time to avoid a collision.
Deputies said skid marks at the scene indicated the bus driver did hit the breaks immediately before impact.
Both Armenta and Randy Najera, 33, the driver of the Honda, were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. None of the children onboard the bus were hurt, either.
No citations have been issued at this point and the investigation is continuing.
