Burglary ring broken up in Marion County, property recovered

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A burglary ring was broken up in Marion County and now investigators are trying to get those stolen items back to their rightful owners.

Sheriff's officials arrested Jeremy Harris and three others in connection with the burglary ring.

Investigators said dozens of items were found after deputies searched Harris' property last month.

Harris was arrested in September after he was found hiding near a metal salvage company that had just been burglarized near Aumsville.

Once investigators searched Harris' property, outside of Stayton, they took three other people into custody.

Items recovered include everything from lawn mowers, to floor scrubbers, as well as jewelry and some firearms.

Investigators believe all these items were stolen over the course of a year.

"Theft is a rampant problem in a lot places and people should take measures to try and secure their property through alarm systems, lighting and things of that nature," said Ted Burwell, with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

About 20 people have claimed some of their property.

If you're looking to claim property, you need to contact the Marion County Sheriff's Office and make sure you have your police report.
