HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -
A pickup truck and motorcycle collided on Cornell Road in Hillsboro on Thursday morning, leaving the motorcycle rider dead.
Hillsboro police and firefighters responded after the rush-hour crash at Brookwood Parkway.
Officers said the driver of a white Chevy full-size pickup was turning left from Brookwood onto Cornell Road at a flashing yellow signal just as a 2006 Buell motorcycle rider was heading south on Brookwood Parkway through the intersection.
The truck struck the motorcycle, killing its rider.
Police said the pickup driver, a 51-year-old woman from Aloha, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The victim is a 60-year-old man from the Bethany area who was wearing protective gear and a helmet at the time of the wreck.
Police said the pickup driver simply didn't see the motorcyclist, and that drugs, alcohol and excessive speed weren't factors in the wreck.
Cornell Road is expected to be closed until 11 a.m. from 25th Avenue to the west and 49th Avenue to the east. The closure also stretches from Airport Road to the north and Main Street to the south.
