PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police responded to several reports of a mob breaking out windows on several bank buildings in Southeast Portland.

It happened just before 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Police got word of 40 people in a bank parking lot on Southeast 35th Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard.

As officers were on their way, they learned the group was heading east on Hawthorne and that someone in the group broke out a window at the Wells Fargo Bank.

Police got more information that someone in the group threw a rock through the window at Chase Bank, also on Hawthorne Boulevard.

They received a report there could be as many as 75 people in the group throwing bottles at pedestrians and walking into traffic.

Broken windows at the U.S. Bank and the Walgreens on Southeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard were also reported.

Officers said the vandals were last seen walking east on Southeast Belmont Street, then scattering in multiple directions.

Authorities found several people and detained them. Police haven't announced any arrests at this point.
