Arch Bridge to reopen, big party planned

Posted: Updated:
OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -

The guest of honor for this year's Willamette Falls Festival has been an important part of the community for 90 years.

The festival will celebrate the reopening of the Arch Bridge.

The bridge spanning the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn has been closed for two years. It has undergone a number of upgrades in that time and will reopen to traffic on Monday.

Starting Friday, however, the Willamette Falls Festival will have activities on and around the bridge.

The festival runs through Sunday and will be capped off with a bridge reopening celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday on the Oregon City side of the bridge.

Two time capsules will be dedicated and a parade of historic cars will be the first to travel across the bridge before it officially opens again at 5 a.m. Monday morning.

For all the details about the festival, go to www.willamettefallsfestival.com.
