VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV/AP) -

Clark County Public Health officials have lifted the closure order for On the Border restaurant on Southeast 164th Avenue in Vancouver.

The restaurant is set to reopen on Monday at 4 p.m.

The restaurant was closed on Oct. 9 after several reports of salmonella cases were reported among customers.

Just two days ago, health officials said the number of confirmed and probable salmonella cases linked to the restaurant was more than 70.

Clark County Health Officer Dr. Alan Melnick said Saturday that 23 cases have been confirmed and another 54 are considered probable.

The Columbian reports (http://is.gd/VTqQgj) that most cases involve adult customers who visited the On the Border restaurant between Sept. 20 and Oct. 8. He says five restaurant food handlers and at least one child also tested positive for salmonella.

"At On The Border, we take the health and safety of our guests and employees very seriously," said Tony Wehner, senior vice president of operations at On The Border. "We worked closely and cooperatively with the Clark County Public Health Department throughout this unfortunate and isolated situation."

The public health office reports that of the four cases that required hospitalization, three have since been released.

Officials are still trying to determine the source of the bacteria. Symptoms include fever, chills, diarrhea and abdominal discomfort and typically arrive within three days of exposure.
