PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A Portland couple is fighting to keep their home after their bank foreclosed on it.
Supporters rallied around Patricia and Darren Johnson at Raymond City Park on Sunday afternoon.
The group then marched to reclaim the Southeast Portland home.
Doctors diagnosed Patricia with a pulmonary disease a few years ago, forcing her to give up her job.
The couple says they fought their bank for a modification on their mortgage with no response, until they found out about the foreclosure months later.
Patricia and Darren said they only had one option left; to move back in and fight:
"Quite honestly, we don't know the risks, but we know that we're standing up and we're not taking this no more. We're not just going to get swept underneath the table and move on, we're making a stand. I think there will be more good that comes out of this than the negative."
The couple said their fight would not be possible without the help of We Are Oregon and community members.
