Police search for suspect in deadly shooting

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

FOX 12's most wanted shot and killed a man in northeast Portland and now police are asking for your help to catch the shooter.

On Monday night, officers responded to a shooting call on Northeast 92nd Place near Glisan.

When they arrived, they found 42-year-old Durell Gee Davis lying dead on the street.

Nedra Lindell was trying to get home when she realized police had the street blocked off.

An officer escorted her home and that's when she saw the victim, just feet away from her front door.

"I saw a white sheet, a blanket covering someone right in the middle - just right over there," said Lindell. "Kind of eerie."

Just before 8 p.m. on Monday, neighbors heard gunfire and called 911.

Police rushed to the scene and found Davis shot to death.

There is no word on a motive yet, but court records show Davis was a registered sex offender and he had a history of assault and drug charges.

Whether Davis was targeted or the shooting was random, neighbors say it makes them uneasy.

Police have not released a description of the shooter yet, but they are analyzing surveillance video from the area.

Lindell hopes it leads to an arrest because she worries what else could've happened.

"What if there was other bullets that ricocheted to other houses and went through some windows," she said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

If you have tips for investigators call 503-823-HELP.
