MCMINNVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

A woman is accused of trying to pass a fake check for more than $1,000 at a small store in McMinnville.

Officers were called to the Mini Super Hidalgo store just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Angelica Acevedo attempted to use the fraudulent check with a stolen driver's license.

That license was stolen during a recent vehicle break-in in McMinnvile, according to police.

Investigators said three others with Acevedo tried to leave the parking lot in a vehicle, but were stopped nearby.

Officers said additional evidence was located in the vehicle that implicated the other three suspects.

It was determined that similar checks have been used at other locations in McMinnville and likely some in Newberg and the surrounding area.

Acevedo, 24, is facing charges of ID theft, forgery and possession of a forged instrument.

Ashley Tarrats, 27, and Norma Marines, 50, are each charged with conspiracy to commit forgery. Robert Aleman, 38, is charged with a parole violation detainer and possession of a forged instrument.

If you know anything more about this case, you're asked to call officers at 503-434-7307.
