PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A classic car was stolen from the home of a woman who had just passed away.

Police said the 1964 Ford Fairlane was parked in a garage in north Portland. The car's owner said he had been storing it at a home on Chautauqua Boulevard that belonged to a woman who passed away Oct. 5.

On Oct. 12, her home was broken into. The car was among the items taken.

Michael Mourlas said Jewell Slater had kept the car all these years, before passing it on to him. They called the car, "Lady Godiva."

He believes the crooks may have seen Slater's obituary and targeted her home because of it.

The car is worth around $12,000. It had Oregon plates 5Y1661.

If you've seen it or know anything about this case, call Portland police.
