Vancouver police look for vehicle linked to car prowls

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Vancouver Police East and West Neighborhood Response Teams are looking for the car that they believe is linked to a series of car prowls, and which eluded them when they attempted to make contact with its occupants.

The teams were conducting surveillance at a Vancouver apartment complex in an attempt to locate a white 2010 Ford Fusion 4-door with Oregon license plate WVN807.

While conducting surveillance, subjects approached the Fusion, entered both the driver and passenger doors and started the vehicle.

Surveillance units in undercover cars drove into the lot and pinned the car against the curb. The occupants of the car refused to comply with officers commands and sped from the area.

At one point, the driver put the Fusion in reverse, accelerated at a very high rate and slammed backward into an undercover police car, moving it approximately 10 feet backwards and spinning it 90 degrees.

The Fusion then fled north from the area running stop signs at a high rate of speed. Vancouver Police units in the area observed the Fusion eastbound on Southeast 29th Street at Southeast 164th Avenue but lost it at that location.

Anyone with any information regarding the Fusion or its occupants is asked to contact Vancouver police.
