FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

A woman and a 5-year-old boy were injured in a three-car crash on Highway 47 north of Forest Grove on Wednesday morning.

State police said the woman, who was driving a Honda Accord, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a pickup truck. After impact, the Honda spun sideways and was struck a second time in the driver side, this time by a passenger car.

Paramedics rushed the 5-year-old boy, whose injuries were described as serious, to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. The severity of injuries to the woman involved is unknown.

Police said the other vehicles' occupants had only minor injuries.

ODOT officials said Highway 47 is closed between Kemper and Purdin roads. Drivers should avoid the area or expect delays.

A detour takes drivers onto Rieling Road to detour north of the wreck.
