LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -

About 75 reptiles, spiders and amphibians used as entertainment for birthday parties and other events were killed in a fire in Longview.

Firefighters were called out just before 1 p.m. to Mt. Solo Road on reports of a house fire. Investigators said the "Reptile Road Show" business was based out of the home.

Garth Pithan owns the business and has about 100 reptiles, spiders and amphibians. Investigators said only 25 were recovered alive.

Three fire engines, a water tanker and two chief officers responded to the fire. The house is considered a total loss.

No people were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters said it is not believed to have been intentionally set.

Pithan started the business in 2007. The Reptile Road Show has been part of more than 100 events in the Longview area, according to the company's website.
